What is Futsal?
Futsal is a fast paced version of soccer played on an indoor court with 5 players per team. It uses a smaller, low bounce ball and emphasizes quick passing, ball control, decision making, and 1v1 skills. It is a great way for players to develop technical skills that transfer directly to outdoor soccer.
Futsal is used in player development around the world. FC Barcelona, for example, operates a dedicated futsal academy, with young players training and competing in futsal alongside the club's broader development programming.
Many European and South American professional players, including Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, cite Futsal as a key part of their development.
Why Futsal here?
As a province, we have room to grow in terms of technical ability and speed of decision making. Our players need more competitive opportunities in the right environment. We often go from September to May with very few matches. In other provinces, teams are competing in winter leagues. This is a great step to help bridge the gap.
Divisions
We are holding U7 to U13 divisions, for both boys and girls.
